Christmas Succulent Hat DIY
I spotted this charming Christmas top hat basket as I walked the aisles of my favorite crafts store. Naturally succulents came to mind.🤔 One thing I enjoy is planting succulents in baskets.😍 So to welcome the Christmas spirit I made this easy to make DIY, to hopefully inspire you to get creative and festive for the holidays!🎄❄️🎄
Materials:
- Decorative basket
- Plastic wrap
- Sphagnum moss
- Succulent cuttings
- Tacky glue
- Adhesive spray glue
- Scissors
Procedure:
1.I lined my basket with a plastic bag that I painted black. Clear plastic wrap will work just as good, since it will be hidden with moss in step 6.
2.I soaked two handfuls of sphagnum moss in water and rung out the excess water before placing my moss inside the plastic lined basket.
3.I prepped several succulents days before my project by cutting their stems short and letting them dry for at least three days.
4.I placed tacky glue on the base of the bottom leaves of my aeonium succulent and placed it in the center of my basket. I repeated the glueing process with the rest of my succulents by working around my succulent in the center.
5.I trimmed off the excess plastic around my basket using my scissors.
6.With my adhesive spray glue I glued dry sphagnum moss around my basket. This method will hide the plastic and give the basket more character*🐝
