Gymnocalycium Mihanovichii Friedrichii is a popular grafted cactus. A grafted cactus is the process of growing two types of cactus into one by placing the top part (scion) and taping or tying the bottom part (rootstock) and patiently waiting for it to "graft" together. What makes the "Moon Cactus" is the specific combination of Gymnocalycium Mihanovichii Friedrichii and Hylocerus. The perfect cactus to add to your windowsill or office space. Water once a month and plant in a breathable material like terracotta. Each grafted plant is unique which makes it a fun collectible cactus.

Native to: S. America

Hardiness: tender soft succulent - will not tolerate frost

ZONE: 10

Recommended light conditions: filtered sun/ full sun

Bloomtime: Spring to Summer

Bloom Color: pink

Watering Needs Indoors: Instead of giving your succulents gradual sips of water throughout the week, give them a good soaking, to the point where water runs out the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot. Be sure to empty the water that runs into the saucer, succulents do not like to sit in water. Then let the soil dry out completely before watering again.

Watering Needs Outdoors: In the Summer water your succulents every two weeks, by soaking them and letting them dry before watering again. In the Winter water your succulents once a month.

Technical Information About This Plant

  • Requires bright light for most of the day. Or constant dappled shade.

Knowing what your planting zone is can be vitally important to your plants thriving. Keep in mind that the zones pertain to OUTDOOR planting. If you plan to keep your plants indoors for fall-winter the zones may be irrelevant.

Moon Cactus

This is a beautiful plant! I got the pink one and the coloring is beautiful. The grafted part looks slightly crooked but it may just be the angle I planted it. It looks wonderful in the skull shaped planter I bought for it. Very happy with this purchase. 💀🌵🌺

Grafted moon cactus

Packed nicely. Wish there was a directional arrow to indicate which end to open. I opened on the wrong end so soil all fell off. The yellow “moon” is beautiful. Unfortunately 1/3 of the “moon” was dry, wrinkled and in whiteish color
Upon arrival. I do appreciate that shipping condition could an affect. Over all, I am still happy about the plant. Hoping I can nourish it back eventually.
